There are multiple neurological, physical, and social benefits to learning to play a musical instrument. Studies have shown that learning music often increases the student's S.A.T. scores, promotes social skills, strengthen everyday listening skills, and so much more. Cognitive and neural benefits of musical experience continue throughout the lifespan, from childhood through senior adulthood, and counteract some of the negative effects of aging, such as memory and hearing difficulties in older adults.
Learning music also fosters creativity, develops a sense of appreciation for different cultures, teaches discipline while developing patience, relieves stress, and can give many a sense of achievement. Not to mention music can be used as a cathartic tool that has the ability to be monetized. In essence; you can learn to develop skills as a musician that can enable you to produce income as a performing artist or music producer.
As a child raised in the T.U.S.D schooling system, Grady was pressed for excellence by band directors, choral directors, and fellow band classmates. In Elementary school, Grady learned to read music while playing the clarinet. He played the clarinet through Middle school, and half of his High School education. It was during his junior year, at Sahuaro H.S. where he opted to play the baritone horn to help a thin low brass section. His senior year, he decided to play the tuba, learning yet another instrument.
Concurrently, Grady was always active in his local church. As a youth, he sang Tenor in the Youth Choir, but yearned to play the drums. After learning to play the drums, he began to apply what he learned in band to the piano. From that time until now, Grady has played the keyboard, the Hammond Organ, and many other instruments and hasn't looked back! He is currently the minister of music at Grace Temple MBC (his local church), under the leadership of his Pastor, D. Grady Scott Sr. Grady has recently written and produced a Gospel album for Larry Cunningham. He is currently producing local singers and musicians. He has been music director for several local bands in the Tucson area, and has played keyboards for other national acts. But at his core, he desires to teach others music.
